Pleated Purse/Tutorial

So here is my next project, finished. I wanted to make this Pleated Purse by My Spare Time for a couple weeks now and I really love it. It's a nice size. I was going to use it as my diaper bag but now that it's done I find it's too small for it.

Plush Toys Tutorial

Here is my next tutorial on how to make a plush toy. I am going to make them to go with the baby shower presents I give. They will be a present topper. I hope that made sense.

So the toy I am making came from this sticker. I used the throw away part to use as my outline.
Pin the template to the fabric and cut out. (Hindsight: I should have cut the fabric a little bit bigger so that it looked just like the template when finished. I didn't do that and it looked smaller.) I used cotton on one side and minky on the other.
Since Minky moves a lot I had to pin it a bunch of times. Believe me, it helps. It may be a pain but you don't get a lot of movement.
Sew all the way around. I used a 1/4 inch seam. Leave about 2-3 inches for the opening.
Cut slots into the part of the fabric that is curved. Be careful not to cut the stitch.

Turn it inside out.
Fill with stuffing. You can fill it with however much you want. I used a moderate amount.
Then I hand stitched it closed. Ok, in this picture I just whip stiched it. I ended up taking it out and looked up how to do the hidden stitch. Here is a link on how to do it: Hidden stitch.
Here is the finished product. This was my first attempt at making these but I have so many more ideas. I am thinking of making a cute giraffe next. It will have some ribbon attached to it for the hair side. Maybe I'll try a lion too. That would be cute.

Clothespin Magnet Tutorial

I decided that I had enough people wanting to know how to make the things that I make. So here is the first of many tutorials I am going to do. This first one is how to decorate and make a clothespin magnet. Sorry the pictures aren't that great.

The first thing you do is cut out the paper you want to use. I tried cutting it a little bit bigger than the clothespin and then cutting off the rest, but it was getting all mucked up. It wouldn't cut straight and the paper looked frayed on the edges. Not the good kind of fray either. So just cut it the same size. It looks like it would be hard to get the correct size but it wasn't too hard. I used my paper cutter.
Next use Mod Podge to cover one side of the clothespin.


Next, put the paper on top the the glued side and press firmly.
When the glue is dry (I don't wait for it to dry) put a coat of Mod Podge over the paper. You can do a couple coats to make sure it is sealed. I did two.
When it is dry, attach the magnet to the back. I was glueing them to the middle of the pin. The picture shows it a bit lower. I just put it where the spring was. I glued it on with hot glue. You can use other types of glue too. I just had the hot glue around at the time.
You are done. Pretty easy right? They turn out so cute. They are fast and a nice little present for a girlfriend or a wedding or shower present.

Wedding Choices

Here are the choices for the wedding. I have two of the pink Gerber Daisies, four of the pink Peonys and a ton of ribbon for the bows. Whoever gets to me first gets first pick of the flowers.

The headbands are for the baby so you can choose which one you like. If you like the Peony I have a smaller one that you can use for the baby.

All flowers and bows will be put on an alligator clip. These clips can go in the girls' hair or anywhere else you want to put it. Sometimes it even looks cute on a dress. Just a thought.

As far as the bow, I can do all green like the picture or I can add some pink to it as well. I have some really cute pink gingham ribbon (the size of the smaller ribbon) that would look cute with it. I can also make smaller bows if you want to do pigtails. Just let me know tonight if at all possible so that I can get cracking on them.
