I Heart Faces: "Oh So Silly"

You know, there is nothing like a huge family having fun.  My family is loud, obnoxious, and crazy but we sure know how to have a blast.  It's always insane when we get together.

Oh, and the dogs tried to get in on the action but I cropped most of them out.  

Oh oh oh, and gotta love Grandma and her normalness.  Except for that sweater, which I have worn to an Ugly Sweater Party.  Sorry Grandma.

Also gotta love the onsie pj's my 16 year old sister is wearing.  Funny.

I dare you to make a caption for each person's face.  That's the best part.

I Heart Faces Challenge - May Flowers


This week is a little different on I Heart Faces.  This week we didn't need a face in the picture and it's not being judged.  Just for fun.  I had actually taken this picture not too long ago and with some slight processing it turned out really pretty.  I didn't have to do much because SOOC it was almost perfect.

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge



I was up at my parent's house hanging out a couple weeks ago when I told my mom about this idea I had. I knew that she still had a bunch of dresses she used to wear decades ago and I wanted to do a photo shoot with my youngest sister in them, in an orchard. I was hoping to go for a vintage dreamlike setting. Mom said yes and my sister started to try on the dresses so I could see what I liked. We found about 5 dresses.

A week later I was on the road with my sister, Truly, and we were headed to some orchards near home. I was hoping the trees would be in bloom and some were but not to the extent that would work. So, we ended up at a friends house and we used their backyard. It's amazing back there. The dress we went with this time (we only had an hour before we had to get back) was a Gunne Sax dress my mom wore at her wedding reception in 1977. Gorgeous!

Anyways, that is how I got this picture. We had a ton of fun going to different parts of the backyard. (It's huge with a stream and boulders at the back.)

I Heart Faces - Photo Challenge Vroom Vroom

So Old Sacramento hosted Gold Rush Days and we went down to mill around and take pictures of things. I took a picture of this and tried to make it look old fashioned. I'm still learning.
This is my entry in the Vroom Vroom Photo Challenge. I kept on debating which to use for the challenge. This one or the last picture in this post.
Here are a few other things I was messing with.
I love how rustic this picture looks. The ISO was on 1600 and it looks grainy like it was in an old picture. This was on the train that we took. The people in front of us were dressed up in period pieces. The kids were adorable.

I Heart Faces - Surprise

We had bought a sprinkler because the pressure on our sprinkler line was lousy and our grass started to turn yellow. Well, we have never used a hose sprinkler before and my daughter was running through it. My son was trying to fill up his glass with the water and as the sprinkler was moving it caught him by surprise and this is the expression he gave. It was really cute to watch him run away.

I Heart Faces Photo Walk

On Saturday I went on a Photo Walk in Downtown Sacramento. I Heart Faces put it on and I was so excited to do it. It was a great learning experience and it was awesome being able to photograph a model. Marina was great as our model and it was fun working with her. Oh to get her by myself. *sigh* Katrina Kennedy (our leader) was awesome and had lots of great tips. Thanks Katrina! You're awesome!!! To see more photos from other cities too go here.

I was able to hang out with some other awesome people and get some photos of them. Here is Kathleen. Isn't she beautiful? Thanks for hanging out and letting me take pictures of you. I love your hair.
I came to the photo walk with Stacy and her daughter Teryn. I got a couple photos of Teryn and I loved this one. I just love her smile.
Could anyone have more gorgeous skin? I don't think so! This is Charisse. A beautiful name for a beautiful woman. We seriously should of done more of you. Thanks Charisse for being in front of the camera.
The rest of the pictures are just what else I shot around Sac. This was an older lady who we passed that was drawing the flowers and we asked if we could take a picture. She was really nice but didn't want us to take a picture of her because she thought she would "break our camera." I thought it would have been an awesome picture with her in it. She did let us take a picture of her drawing. Thanks!!
I was really digging the sun coming through the trees so I had to take it. This was at the end of the walk. "It's a tree star!" (shout out to Land Before Time)
Gotta love me some sun flare!
Just the wall. Trying out my lens and seeing what it can do.

I Heart Faces Photo Challenge

So here is my entry for the Faces and Flowers Challenge at I Heart Faces. (Yes this is the picture from the previous post.) We were at the park one day and the clover flowers were all over the place so I had to have a little photo shoot with my daughter.

Do you ever remember making head wreaths out of them? I do them for her now. It makes me think of those carefree days as a child when all we had to worry about was a stubbed toe and cooties.

Do you like the sparkly jelly shoes she has on? She wears them all the time. All hail the 80's!
Here is what I made this time.

This is just for laughs. I put this flower in my daughter's hair and she proceeded to just add more to "pretty" herself up. You like how the right side (her left) looks nice and in place while the left side (her right) has some issues?
By-the-way, this picture was taken with my point and shoot.
